“And they were all filled with the holy Spirit and began to speak in different tongues, as the Spirit enabled them to proclaim.”

-Acts 2:4

“The effect of the sacrament of confirmation is the special outpouring of the Holy Spirit as once granted to the apostles on the day of Pentecost.” (CCC 1302)
The sacrament of Confirmation is celebrated in the spring of 10th grade. Enrollment for Confirmation in the Spring of 2018 is closed. If your teen will be confirmed in the Spring of 2019 please check back in summer 2018 to enroll.

“A candidate for Confirmation who has attained the age of reason must profess the faith, be in the state of grace, have the intention of receiving the sacrament, and be prepared to assume the role of disciple and witness to Christ, both within the ecclesial community and in temporal affairs.”(CCC 1319)
Those to be confirmed in the spring of their 10th grade year are encouraged to fulfill the following in order that they be properly prepared to receive the sacrament of Confirmation.
– Attend 6 Life Nights in both 9th and 10th grade
– Attend 1 retreat in either 9th or 10th grade
– Attend 3 confirmation specific sessions in 10th grade

A Sponsor for Confirmation should be:
  • A practicing, faith-filled Catholic already fully initiated into the faith. (Has received the sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation)
  • Must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Can not be a parent of the candidate.
  • Able to form a relationship with the Candidate and willing to share his/her own experience of faith.
  • Willing to give the time to participate in the sacramental preparation process and to pray for the Candidate.
All confirmation sponsors must provide a sponsor certificate.
This form will need to be signed by their home parish priest and returned to Judy Paffilas at the Parish Office. This certificate confirms that they are a registered and participating member of the Christian community.

When choosing your Confirmation name, keep the following in mind:
  • You may be confirmed in your Baptismal name. By keeping your Baptismal name, rather than choosing a new Confirmation name, it reaffirms your Baptismal name and strengthens the connection between the two sacraments.
  • If a new name is chosen, selecting a saint’s name is common practice. One should choose a saint they admire and wish to emulate in the Christian life.
If you would like to choose a new name check out the article below to help you get started.
After you have selected your sponsor and decided on your confirmation name please fill out the form below.
